Are my fees refundable?

Session Fees and Gift Vouchers are non-transferable and non-refundable.


Can I bring a friend into my lesson?

To avoid distraction, parents and guests are not to sit in on sessions unless a valid reason is given or they are invited to by Ofelia.


Can I do Work Experience at OVS?

No.  Though OVS has accommodated Work Experience students in the past, as of 2019, OVS will no longer accommodate Work Experience students.


Can I learn an instrument in my lessons?

Yes.  Beginner Piano is offered.  It is a requirement that all students who attend OVS learn how to read music.  Students are encouraged to learn how to play a melodic instrument such as the piano or guitar.


Do I have to perform in the OVS Concerts?

Yes.  But, as of 2019, OVS will no longer host Concerts.


Do I need to be able to read music?

No, but it is a requirement that all students who attend OVS either know how to read music or are prepared to learn how to read music.  Reading music is an important skill for a musician to possess and is included in lessons.  Songs are learnt from sheet music and students who are learning to read music are required to work on Graded Music Theory.


How do I enroll for lessons at OVS?

As of 2019, students who would like to book in a session with OVS can simply book in their session time.  Payment is required at the time of booking.


How many lessons can I cancel per term?

As long as you give 24 hours notice of cancellation, you will not forfeit your session and the session will be rebooked.


How old does a student need to be to take singing lessons at OVS?

The student can be of any age but must be actively performing and be able to read the English language fluently.


I am unsure if I am good enough to sing?

If you enjoy singing, want to improve and have the time and dedication to practise, find yourself a compatible vocal coach to assist in developing your skill.


I have allergies, sinusitus, regular colds or URTI’s that affects my voice.  Can I still sing?

“Am I healthy, rested and hydrated?”  If your answer is “yes” to those three things, sing.  If you answered “no” to any of them, do not sing.

I do understand that you may be booked to perform and for the professional entertainer, sometimes to not sing is a non-negotiable.  Prevention is the best cure.  Here are some pointers to help you look after your voice.


If I am sick, can I still attend my lesson?

No.  Please do not attend sessions if your are sick with a contagious virus or bacterial infection.  You will potentially make everyone else sick who attends their lesson after yours.  Send me an sms to let me know you are unwell and a make-up lesson will be organised when you are better.  Stay home and rest.  Here a some pointers to help you maintain wellness.

What is your lesson cancellation policy?

24 Hours Notice of Cancellation must be given to cancel a session for a make-up lesson to be warranted. If a minimum 24 hours notice of cancellation is not given, the lesson will be forfeited and no make-up lesson will be issued.
