About the Poems
Based on random thoughts from an unsettled growing mind, that of Daniel Ivinson (aka Poet-Trey), the collection of poems were the result of food for thought. “Food for Thought”, the original title, was soon changed to “Pennies Tossed in a Fountain” to represent the hopes and wishes Daniel wrote about.
Daniel was born on the 5th April, 1979 in Darwin, Northern Territory. Like most from the NT, Daniel is very proud of his home roots. Daniel began writing poems as a child, and his repertoire of poetry have lived in a blue A4 pocket display folder entitled “Pennies Tossed in a Fountain”.
All the poems, bar “Dreams” and “The Star is There Within You”, were written during Daniel’s childhood and teen years.
About the Music
The songs were composed and produced by singer-songwriter, Ofelia Guizzon.
In 2013, Ofelia was looking for inspiration to write new songs, but she only wanted to write the music. When Ofelia came across “Pennies Tossed in a Fountain”, she felt she had stumbled upon a gold mine of lyrical material. Daniel obliged when Ofelia asked if she could write songs to the poems. “Why I Feel the Way I Do” was the first of the 16 poems which would turn into song.
Ofelia wanted to produce “Pennies Tossed in a Fountain” as a poetry and song sensory coffee table book in honour of the writings of her sensitive, wonderful, reptilian fiancé-for-life, Daniel “Croc” Ivinson.
“I hope you enjoy the stories and, to my fellow musicians, the music.” (Ofelia Guizzon)
